Demodecosis. Factors of occurrence

Demodicosis is a skin condition caused by parasitic mites known as Demodex. These microscopic mites naturally inhabit the skin of every person and typically do not cause problems. However, under certain conditions, they can multiply excessively and lead to symptoms.

Demodicosis can affect various areas of the skin, but the most commonly affected areas are the face, especially around the nose, chin, forehead, and eyes. People with demodicosis may experience the following symptoms:

  1. Redness of the skin in affected areas.
  2. Itching and burning sensation.
  3. Pimples, pustules, or red bumps.
  4. Thickening and flaking of the skin.
  5. Inflammation and irritation of the eyes (if the area around the eyes is affected).

Demodicosis can be triggered by various factors, including weakened immunity, excessive sebum production, stress, hormonal changes, and others. It may also be associated with other skin conditions, such as rosacea.

The treatment for demodicosis involves certain medications, such as topical creams, gels, or soaps containing active ingredients to destroy or control the parasites. In some cases, oral medications such as antibiotics or retinoids may be necessary.

Additionally, it's important to maintain good skin hygiene, avoid excessive rubbing or squeezing of affected areas, and control factors that can worsen symptoms, such as stress and excessive sebum production.

If you suspect demodicosis or observe relevant symptoms, it is recommended to consult a dermatologist for diagnosis and the most appropriate treatment.
